ABOUT DAVID A. JENCEN, Ph.D.
Dr. Jencen is Principal of Jencen Field Medical Consulting LLC.
He brings more than 20 years direct industry experience in field medical affairs across multiple therapeutic areas including oncology, diabetes, COPD, and osteoporosis. His extensive industry experience and subject matter expertise has delivered unique client value with projects including:
Direct observation of KOL:MSL interaction quality and MSL business planning approach
Facilitation of training programs designed to address specific MSL competency gaps
Development of a managed care acumen in MSL/medical affairs personnel
Conducting stakeholder engagement planning workshops
Optimization of existing KOL lists for focused MSL utilization
Operationalizing a global medical insight collection and communication process
Recruitment and facilitation of Medical Advisory boards (inflammatory bowel disease)
Dr. Jencen’s industry career included a variety of Medical Affairs/MSL assignments with companies including Procter & Gamble Pharmaceuticals, Boehringer Ingelheim, and Novo Nordisk. Across pre- and post-launch product lifecycles he directed 2 different therapeutic MSL teams, a dedicated managed markets MSL team, an MSL training team, and MSL operations.
An internationally-sought speaker and workshop facilitator, he has delivered Medical Affairs training programs in the US, China, Singapore, Taiwan, and Latin America. He also offers fee-paid coaching and mentoring to aspiring MSLs, in addition to mid-career Medical Affairs professionals considering a change. He blogs, and also hosts a LinkedIn discussion group.
As an inaugural member of the Medical Affairs Professional Society, Dr. Jencen served on the annual conference planning committee in 2018.
